You have completed the book review. You have chosen your book. ...but why? What drew you to this story or this particular book?
The theme of our "Senior Read" unit is the idea of "Windows and Mirrors". Would you say that this book acts as a window or mirror for you? No need to give specific reasons (as it may be personal) just let your fellow reader know how this book functions for you.
I chose this book because it seems very interesting after reading the plot of it. What drew me to this book was the cover, just having one boy on it when it could be something else. This book acts like a window because the things the character is going through, I have never been through my self.

DeleteI chose this book for a few reasons. I participated in this project last year and after a friend of mine read it, he recommended it to me. After I looked it up I thought it was pretty interesting. At first I thought this book would have been a window to me, because it dealt with racial discrimination, and I have never dealt with that. But, I am used to being challenged more than others for no good reason. So maybe it's one way glass?

I thought this book seemed very interesting. I admire the works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and this book represented him well. I thought the characters seemed believable and interesting. This book would definitely be a "window" for me as I have never experienced racism before.

I choose this book because it seems interesting. The cover interested me because it shows a kid with a cop car in the background. This attracted me because it relates to the real world. This book acts as a window because I have never experienced this before.

I choose this book because when I was little I always wondered what it would be like to write letters to someone who had such a big impact on peoples lives.I think this book would be a window because I never went through racism before and I never had to experience what anyone before and after MLKJ went through.

When choosing my senior read I knew I had to choose the book that appealed to me the most. I enjoy reading books that include realism as well as relatable situations or characters, therefore I looked for those qualities when making my decision. I first saw the cover, which immediately caught my eye as it had an interesting cover. Then I read the back cover as well as the inside front cover to gain more information. Both areas boosted my interest as I realised how relatable the book was going to be.

I picked Dear Martin as my senior because it seemed real. I like books what have a more realistic attitude. I think when reading you want relatable characters and situations. The cover drew me in with the red and blue lights. Both things drew me in and this is why I picked Dear Martin.

ReplyDeleteI think it is very calm and is like a emotional rollercoaster. I chose this book because it was a window to a different world. I think the problem is to many people are worried about what other people think of them.
ReplyDeleteI think the author wants other people to not be racist towards black people or other people that are not like them. I think the author wants people to see someone else's point of view. The author wants the reader to experience other people's life. The author wants the reader to not hate other people for being different. The author draws readers in with the red and blue lights on the cover of the book. The problem with the story is there is to much conflict.
